Goldsby employees have good news coming their way in the form of a 5 percent cost-of-living pay increase. The measure, effective Aug. 1, was unanimously approved Monday night by town trustees and affects each of the 11 town employees.

Trustees also voted to adopt a new building fee schedule. Building fees will now be calculated at 15 cents per square foot of a new construction, including commercial, multi-family, one family, office, retail and industrial structures, said town attorney Bob Dill. In the future, the town may look to raise inspection fees, Dill said. Other fees adopted Monday include a $25 demolition permit, a $25 storm shelter and swimming pool permit and for remodelings, alterations, additions or accessory buildings over 100 square feet near or attached to one- and two-family dwellings, a building fee will be assessed as 62 cents per $1,000 of the remodeling's value, with a minimum of a $25 permit building fee.

Mobile home construction, including water well, septic system, carports and driveway improvements, will be $1 per $1,000 of the property's valuation with a minimum of a $25 permit fee.

Also Monday, Kristi Davey, Goldsby resident, proposed to trustees a farmer's market for local gardeners and crafters. Davey said the market would be on different days than the Norman Farmer's Market and would be a way for the Park Board to raise money. No vote was taken on the measure, though trustees Tom Sparks and Cindy Scott said they'd support a Goldsby farmer's market.

Becky Fleming was contracted for $8,225 to perform the town's annual audit and volunteer firefighters and trustees discussed applying for a grant to replace the town's aging brush rig. If they receive a grant, trustees voted to kick in up to $15,000 toward the matching component.

Interlocal agreements were approved with the McClain County Sheriff's Department and County Commissioners for law enforcement and road improvements.
