NPD officers relax at last weekend's PPC Championship. Nine NPD officers finished in the Governor's top-20, a NRA recognized list of the top shooters in each state.

All nine Norman Police Department officers who participated in the annual shooting championships made the Governor's Top 20 list.

The department hosted the annual Dale DeBerry Memorial Regional and Oklahoma State Police Pistol Combat championships earlier this month.

The four-day event brought in 50 competitors from across the country, including Texas, Colorado, Iowa, California and Mississippi. The championships consisted of firing both semi-automatic pistols and revolvers from distances of 3 yards to 50 yards.

The Norman Pistol team took first place honors in the two-person and four-person semi-automatic team matches and the two-person and four-person revolver team marches during the Regional Match. Officers Jeremy Garnand and Elliot Gribaudo earned 11 individual first place finishes, with Joshua Barker adding six individual first place wins.

Garnand is the first PPC Champion from Norman since Harold Nicholson in 2003.

The Governor's top-20 list is a NRA-recognized program that identifies the top-20 shooters in each state. The participants include Garnand, Barker, Cole Gardner, Gribaudo, Robert Maldonado, Jamie Crowe, Robert Wasoki, Joshua Rojales and David St. John.

“The Norman Pistol Team would like to thank Chief Kevin Foster and the Administration of the Norman Police Department for their continued support for this annual match,” Barker said.
