OU art museum store manager Jin Jo Garton, left, and sales assistant Amanda K. Roberts pose together in the Muse showroom inside the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art.

Muse, the museum store at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, will have its final day of operation June 28. Staff at the store were notified of this change Thursday during the latest round of reductions in force at the University of Oklahoma.

From June 18-28, Muse will hold a 50 percent off liquidation sale on all remaining merchandise in the store.

The news of the store's closure comes in the midst of a comprehensive review of university operations with the aim of putting the institution's finances on a sustainable foundation. Exhibit catalogs and other limited merchandise will continue to be available for purchase at the museum entrance.

"It will be a good opportunity to say thank you to our regular customers," said Jin Jo Garton, the museum store's manager and buyer. "I hope a lot of old friends will come in for the sale so I can thank them for supporting the Muse over the years."

The museum will be discontinuing its late-night Thursday hours starting July 1. The museum's new open hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is located in the OU Arts District on the corner of Elm Avenue and Boyd Street, at 555 Elm Ave., on the OU Norman campus. Admission to the museum is complimentary to all visitors. The museum is closed on Mondays. Information and accommodations are available by calling 325-4938.
