Jeff Deverett and Barbara Hopkins of Deverett Media are looking for experienced actors for “Full Out 2,” a film inspired by the Oklahoma Sooners women’s gymnastics team.
The film, a sequel to Deverett and Hopkins’ first “Full Out” movie, takes place as the University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team gears up to take their second national championship win.
In the film, the team’s star gymnast, Brenna Dowell, quits the team suddenly to chase her Olympic dreams and leaves the remaining gymnasts worried about their prospects at nationals.
“We decided to choose (OU), because they just won another national championship,” Hopkins said. “What better way to reward such an outstanding university and an outstanding program, than to make our next gymnastics movie about their program and some of their gymnasts?”
The film’s casting director, Chris Freihofer, is holding auditions in Norman today through Thursday. Deverett and Hopkins will be brought in for callbacks on July 23, and filming will take place in Norman throughout August.
Actors will receive $250 per day they work.
Casting for the four, 18 to 24-year-old gymnasts is specific to match the OU gymnasts acting as stunt doubles.
Casting is looking for a white, blonde-haired female between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 4 inches to play Brenna Dowell; a white, light-brown-haired female between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 3 inches to play Chayse Capps; a black, dark-brown-haired female between 5 feet, 2 inches and 5 feet, 4 inches to play A.J. Jackson and a white, blonde-haired female between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches to play Natalie Brown.
In addition to the four leading ladies, the film needs three, 18 to 24-year-old males of any ethnicity to play A.J.’s friend and love interest, Sam, and Sam’s friends, Josh and Dan.
A 10- to 12-year-old female of any ethnicity is needed to play Special Olympian Elizabeth (Actual Special Olympic gymnasts are welcome to audition). A 30 to 45-year-old female of any ethnicity is needed for Elizabeth’s mom.
Finally, a 40- to 50-year-old, white female is needed to play Coach K.J. Kindler, and a thin, 30 to 50-year-old female of any ethnicity is needed to play the ballet teacher.
Hopkins said “Full Out 2,” which will be completed by July 2020, will be an uplifting, family film available on Netflix.
“What we want viewers to get out of it is that you don’t give up in the face of adversity,” Hopkins said.
