Democratic County Convention planned Saturday

The Cleveland County Democratic Party will hold its County Convention at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Moore Public Library, 225 S. Howard Ave. in Moore.

Cleveland County Democrats will elect county officers at that time. State Rep. Bill Nations from Norman will be the keynote speaker.

Delegates to the convention include precinct officers elected earlier this month, as well as elected officials in the county who are registered Democrats. In addition to the election of county leadership, delegates to the 2007 Congressional District and State Conventions will be chosen.

Resolutions also will be considered.

CORE organizing to get out vote on curbside recycling

Citizens Organized to Recycle our Environment will have an organizational meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday in the multi-purpose room at City Hall to discuss the upcoming curbside recycling vote May 8.

Asberry to speak at Tyner Cornbread and Beans

The Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon, sponsored by the Cleveland County Democrats and open to the public, will meet 11:30 a.m. Friday in Step Brothers Restaurant, 423 S. Webster Ave.

Kitti Asberry, chairperson of the Oklahoma County Democratic Party and candidate for the vice chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, will be the featured speaker.

Cornbread and beans and iced tea are available for $5 or attendees may order from the menu.
