Panel discussion Thursday
A panel discussion on the 11 State Questions on the Nov. 2 ballot will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 24th Ave. SW.
The forum is sponsored by the Norman League of Women Voters. Panelists will be Rick Tepker, OU professor of law, who has written many law review articles and who teaches constitutional law, employment law and equal employment opportunity; Rick Farmer, director of committee staff for the Oklahoma House of Representatives and author of “Direct Democracy in OK: Exploring the Usage and Results of Initiative and Referendum”; and David Morgan, professor emeritus, who has written about local and state government and intergovernmental relations, and served on the Norman Planning Commission, City Utility Commission and several other advisory committees.

Panel of state superintendent candidates today
A public forum featuring candidates for Oklahoma’s state superintendent of public instruction is scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today in Meacham Auditorium of the University of Oklahoma’s Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave.
OU’s graduate student organization the Norman Chapter of Oklahoma Educational Studies Association is hosting the panel.
Candidates Republican Janet Barresi, Independent Richard Cooper and Democrat Susan Paddock will present their platforms, field questions from educators and answer public inquiries.
Currently superintendent Sandy Garrett will leave the office in January 2011 after 20 years.
