The Junior League of Oklahoma City is proud to announce it’s participation in the Fourth Annual Prom Night at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. The event will start at 5 p.m. Saturday with the theme "Night at the Circus."

Select patients at The Children's Hospital are invited to start their day with the League's numerous sponsors and volunteers in an effort to prepare them for their special evening. These special guests will have the opportunity to select a new dress or suiting attire to wear for the night and have their hair and makeup designed on site. They can also team up with a Kendra Scott consultant to build their own custom jewelry piece. All items and services are provided at no cost to the patients and their guests.

After the initial ‘Pre-Prom’ activities, guests will be whisked downstairs to the Samis Center for their Prom. The facilities will be transformed to reflect the theme, "Night at the Circus," courtesy of League volunteers and Eventures, Inc. The evening will include dinner, dancing and party activities such as a customizable photo booth.

Prom Night helps to promote healthy self-image for children, pre-teens, and teenagers who experience sudden injury, illness, or those who suffer from a chronic illness. Events like Prom Night aim to combat the depression, anxiety, and social withdraw that commonly challenge these children.

“Prom Night is an integral part to our mission as an organization,” Whitney Tatum, Junior League Project Manager, said. “League members, sponsors, and donors work tirelessly in order to prepare for this magical day. Our volunteers facilitate the event from start to finish. We secure items, volunteers and professional services such as prom attire, entertainment, hair stylists, makeup artists, decorations. We even provide a ‘swag bag’ at the end of the evening for patients. Combined, It takes approximately 400 volunteer hours to make this night happen. This doesn’t even include the lead time and planning that goes into the event,” said Tatum.
