Jingling sleigh bells and packed shopping centers aren't the only indicators of the holiday season. Several area school districts are set to settle down for "a long winter's nap" much to the delight of students. Winter break for Norman Public Schools, Lexington Public Schools, All Saints Catholic School, Washington Public Schools begins Thursday. Classes for those districts will resume Jan. 3.

Purcell Public Schools, Noble Public Schools and Moore Public Schools also will release their students Thursday, but classes resume on different days: Purcell, Jan. 4; Noble, Jan. 2; and Moore, Jan. 8.

The Robin Hill School got an early jump on the holiday. Their break began today. Robin Hill will resume classes Jan. 3.

The Cleveland County Courthouse and county offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 and Monday, Jan. 1, for the holidays.

Additionally, the Cleveland County Election Board office will be closed Friday, Dec. 22, according to Election Board Secretary Paula G. Roberts. Those wishing to register to vote may do so at any tag agency or may pick up a voter registration form at any public library or post office.

City of Norman offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Jan. 1.

Sanitation pickup will be offset one day throughout the week of Dec. 25 and the week of Jan. 1. Sanitation workers will work Saturdays both weeks, officials said.

Also, the sanitation division is allowing for extra trash pickup from Dec. 26 through Jan. 6. Customers will be allowed to place extra bags of trash next to their polycarts on their collection days, according to the holiday schedule.
