A Norman woman was formally arraigned on four felony counts Wednesday, connected to an investigation by Norman police into the alleged sexual abuse of several children, ages 9 to 17.

Susan J. Faulkner, 40, was formally arraigned in Cleveland County District Court on charges of use of a computer to violate Oklahoma law; procuring child pornography; lewd or indecent proposal to a child; and lewd acts with a child.

According to court affidavits, Norman police were notified last June of sexual abuse allegedly taking place at Faulkner's home in the 300 block of Thompson Street.

Several children were interviewed by police, and reportedly said Faulkner had told some of them she was bisexual. According to an affidavit, both male and female children of the approximate same ages were allowed to engage in sexual acts with Faulkner's knowledge and approval. She also allowed children of the same sex to engage in sexual acts, according to the affidavit.

Police said Faulkner accessed a personal computer and Web cam in her home, and while engaging in chats of a sexual nature on the Internet, transmitted images of some of the children. She allowed the children to view graphic photos sent to her via the Internet, police said.

Faulkner, when interviewed by police, denied the children were present while she took video images of herself, but admitted she allowed the children to view graphic images transmitted to her, police said.

She denied allowing the children to engage in any type of sexual activity in her home, claiming that she became aware of the children having sex after the fact, police said.

Faulkner was arrested Sept. 8 and bound over for trial Feb. 9. Wednesday, District Judge Tom Lucas ordered that Faulkner appear for the 9 a.m. June 5 felony sounding docket.

Meanwhile, a Norman man is scheduled for formal arraignment at 9 a.m. Monday on three felonies in connection with the investigation and allegations he engaged in a sex act with Faulkner while the children watched.

Manuel E. Sanchez, 26, is charged with lewd or indecent proposal to a child; outraging public decency; and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Police said Sanchez confessed to engaging in a sexual act with Faulkner while the children were present, and while Faulkner gave instructions to the children, police said.

The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Victoria Gillispie.
