The University of Oklahoma PRSSA chapter will host “Speed-Networking with Professionals” to bring students and public relations professionals together today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindsey + Asp agency in Gaylord College.
The free event gives students the opportunity to network with eight public relations professionals who work in various public relations industries, including government, agency and nonprofit.
Speakers will share the uniqueness of their particular types of public relations work, explain what “a day in their life” is like and be able to answer any questions students may have.
Students will begin the evening by networking with the professionals in a speed-dating manner; three to four students will sit at a table and network with a professional, moving to the next speaker about every 10 minutes.
The event will conclude with dinner provided by InterUrban, Sandro’s Pizza and Pasta, Cookies N Cards and McAlister’s Deli. While dining, students may sit with the professional of their choice for more thorough conversation about their industry, internship opportunities and career advice.
“This event is going to be a great way for students to really get to know local professionals,” said Haley Hoover, Speed-Networking chairwoman. “We’ve organized a great group of speakers who could be very valuable mentors to public relations students.”
