Cleveland County Detention Center inmates will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner Thursday, according to sheriff's deputies.

"We don't want anyone to go hungry on Thanksgiving," said Sheriff's Department Capt. Doug Blaine. "We're planning to serve 240 Thanksgiving Day dinners, just to be on the safe side."

Blaine said the Thanksgiving Day menu consists of turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, corn, hot rolls, cranberry sauce, three kinds of pies -- apple, cherry and pumpkin -- and chocolate cake.

The sheriff's department plans special meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas days to "try and give everyone a holiday," Blaine said.

"Just because they're prisoners, they're still human. We want them to be as comfortable as possible under the circumstances," he said.
