The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) has selected Moore Norman Technology Center Accounting Instructor Charlotte Burnham to receive the Lessons Enhancing Accounting Development Award.

?The L.E.A.D is an annual contest designed to see which educators can develop the best accounting-based lesson plans.

The contest ultimately allows educators to share their original plans with one another.

Burnham's lesson plan, "Mastering COGS ? Easy as Whistling Dixie," aims to teach the concept of the Cost of Goods Sold in a hands-on approach that makes the learning experience memorable so students will retain the information and understand accounting terms.?

?Burnham's plan earned her the second place prize, which consisted of a $225 award for her, and $75 to the MNTC Accounting Program.

"I would like for all of my students to enjoy learning and to build a framework of skills and knowledge necessary for success in the business world. I want to provide clear, concise business and accounting concepts that take students beyond the classroom," she said.

?Moore Norman Technology Center's Accounting program is open to adults and high school students.
