A Moore girl is among the 10 finalists who were selected for?the OK City Star Contest, set for Santa Fe High School auditorium?in Edmond at 7:30?p.m. on Saturday, June 14.

Brighton Cargal of Moore,?is the youngest qualifier for the event.

Cargal joins Jessica Wilson of Choctaw,?Andrea Hartness?of Putnam City, Matt Johns of Edmond, Cara Bleer of Velma, Michael Glover of Midwest? City,?Anthony Foster of Norman,?Christina Sazama of Tulsa,? Amy Niles of Edmond,?--andJuliana Johnson of Oklahoma City in the competition.?

The finalists range in age from 15 to 24 and were selected during?the semifinal round June 7 at Crossroads Mall.

The group represent?nine different cities in Oklahoma.?

Saturday's winner?will receive?$500 in cash and $2,000 in Visa giftcards along with a song package?which includes the composition, production, recording and release of an original song.

The second place winner will receive $350 and third place $100.?

Audience members will vote to help determine the winners and the OK City Chorus of Sweet Adelines?will perform while the votes are being tabulated.? The audience will get a sneak preview of?the OK?City Chorus' musical package?for international competition in Honolulu this November.????

Judges for the event include Kevin Smith, Musical Director of the Cimmaron Circuit Opera Company and the Thelma Gaylord Academy of Lyric Theater; Lisa Fox, a noted?theater performer, choreographer and director; Jane Hall, a well-known television and stage performer, Sandra Thompson, a professor of Music at the University of Central Oklahoma and associate?conductor for the Ambassadors Concert?Choir and and Jan McCaffrey, a nationally known country and western performer and recording?artust.

?First and second round judges included Cimarron Circuit Opera's noted soprano, Erica Thomas, Sooner Theater's Brand on Fox,?and KOMA program director Kent Jones.?

The event is co-sponsored by the OK City Chorus of Sweet Adelines Crossroads Mall and KOMA Radio.
