Candidate filing for positions on the Moore and Moore Norman Technology Center boards of education will continue through 5 p.m. today with the Cleveland County Election Board, 122 S. Peters Ave. in Norman.

As of Tuesday at 5 p.m., incumbent Jamey Allen had filed as a candidate for the Moore Public Schools District 1 seat.

MNTC's Zone 1 Office 1 seat also is up for grabs. Board president Dudley Freeman holds the seat and is not running for re-election. No one has filed for the position.

Both positions have a five-year term of office. The election will be Feb. 14 with a run-off election, if needed, scheduled April 4.

Qualifications

Candidates must be registered voters with the Cleveland County or Oklahoma County Election Board at an address located within the geographical boundaries of District 1 or Zone 1 for six months preceding the first day of the filing period.

The Moore board's District 1 roughly covers the northeastern section of the school district. Candidates must have resided within the specified election district for at least six months preceding the first day of the filing period.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency.

Employees of the school districts are not eligible as candidates or relatives within the second degree of current board members or school employees.

People convicted of a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony or who have entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony are not eligible for candidacy for 15 years after completion of the sentence or during the pendency of an appeal of such conviction or plea.
