The Norman Public Schools Board of Education made a decision in Monday night's meeting regarding the open assistant principal position at Roosevelt Elementary School.

The board unanimously voted to approve Sara Adams to become the new assistant principal.

Adams previously served as the principal for at Mustang Trails Elementary school in Mustang. Before that, she served for Norman Public Schools in a variety of different roles. Adams has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from East Central University and a master's degree in educational administration and curriculum supervision from OU.

"We always try to find people who fit the culture of our individual schools and who embody our core values," BOE president Linda Sexton said. "Sara is a perfect fit to join the Roosevelt team, and we're excited to bring her back to Norman Public Schools."

The hire of Adams comes just days after the BOE voted in a special session to fill the principal vacancies at both Norman high schools. The BOE has had a busy summer filling the open positions throughout the school district.

"We're thrilled to bring Sara Adams back to Norman to serve as the assistant principal at Roosevelt," NPS Superintendent Nick Migliorino said. "Sara is a highly qualified professional and a proven leader. She will be a tremendous asset to the Roosevelt family and to our district."
