A man suspected of killing his wife then trying to cover the evidence by setting a house on fire is scheduled to appear in Cleveland County court for a disposition Wednesday in District Judge Tracy Schumacher's courtroom.

Cody Wayne Fish, 32, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and violating a protective order.

According to a Cleveland County Sheriff's affidavit, firefighters found Brandi Fish as they were extinguishing a house fire at 16400 Carnegie Circle in Newalla on Nov. 23, 2015. When deputies made contact with Cody, he was apparently making “spontaneous utterances” to the effect of, “she tried to hurt/kill me." When detectives interviewed Fish, he told them he had an altercation with Brandi.

Fish told detectives that first he punched her, then he struck her with a wrench and stabbed her multiple times in the head with a screwdriver.
