Mayfield picks LA-based Waterhouse Hayes for off-field representation

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield looks for an open receiver during the Sooners' game against Georgia at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Their Rose Bowl clash was one of college football's all-time classics.

Now, Oklahoma and Georgia are doing it again on their home campuses for the first time.

OU announced Monday it will meet Georgia in Norman on Sept. 9, 2023. The Sooners will return the game in Athens, Georgia, on Sept. 13, 2031. The teams have met once previously, but never during a regular season.

The 2023 game in Norman will help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

"Greg McGarity and his staff at Georgia helped us navigate an unusual scheduling circumstance and we are grateful for the diligence and patience," OU athletic director Joe Castiglione stated in a release. "We understand the return game date is later than usual, but very much look forward to taking our program to Athens to play in one of the country's great venues. As we have said on many occasions, we understand our responsibility to college football fans and tradition to play iconic games. We welcome opportunities such as this one that reinforce our brand and celebrate the historically great programs."

Georgia beat OU 54-48 in double overtime of the 2017-18 Rose Bowl.

This is the latest in a string of future marquee series OU has scheduled. In April, the school announced a home-and-home series with Alabama in 2032 (Sept. 11 in Norman) and 2033 (Sept. 10 in Tuscaloosa). Before that was a home-and-home set with Clemson set for 2035 (Clemson) and 2036 (Norman).
