OU football: Quick primer for Oklahoma-South Dakota

Oklahoma shouldn’t have issues with Missouri Valley Conference member South Dakota, which fell to Montana 31-17 last week.

Here’s what you should know about the Coyotes:

• Perspective: South Dakota went 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the Missouri Valley last season. … OU doesn’t play many FCS opponents. Its previous matchup was a 69-13 win over Florida A&M in 2012. The Sooners play two FCS games the next two seasons, beginning with South Dakota then another against Missouri State in 2020.

• 44 Darin Greenfield (6-3, 235; Sr. DL): A two-time All-American who leads all current Coyotes in career sacks and tackles for loss.

• 1 Austin Simmons (6-1, 215; Sr. QB): South Dakota’s quarterback was 23 for 33 with 246 yards, 2 TDs and an interception in the opener. He took over as the starter last season.

• 6 Kody Case (5-10, 175; R-So. WR): He caught 11 passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns last week.
