Several area players shine during Week 1 of the high school football season.

Here are the candidates for The Transcript's high school football player of the week:

Andrew Young, Norman High: Young led Tiger receivers with 198 yards in a 31-24 win over Norman North. Young's most impress play came on a 58-yard touchdown pass via quarterback Cade Horton.

Blaine Martin, Norman North: Martin had 87 rushing yards against Norman High. He scored on a 60-yard punt retun in the second quarter and added an eight-yard rushing touchdown in the third.

Dayton Wolfe, Westmoore: Wolfe kept the Jaguars' Moore War winning streak alive. In the process, he completed 19-of-25 passes for 333 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran in a score as well.

Austin Fisher, Noble: The first-year starting quarterback scored five times — three the air and two on the ground — to help Noble race past Newcastle, 41-12, last Friday.
