Thursday’s game

Enid at Westmoore

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Moore Stadium

Records & Rankings: Enid 0-2 (0-0 District 6A-I-1), unranked; Westmoore 3-0 (0-0), No. 6

Need to know: When you’re clearly the better team, the best thing you can do is put the game away quickly, play a bunch of players and get out of it healthy. That’s Westmoore’s challenge against the Plainsmen.

Radio: KOKC-AM 1520, FM 95.3

Friday’s games

Yukon at Norman High

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Harve Collins Field

Records & Rankings: Yukon 1-2 (0-0 District 6A-I-1), unranked; Norman High 3-0 (0-0), No. 2.

Need to know: The Millers were shut out by a good Mustang team, yet proved dangerous against a good Moore team, falling 49-35. The game provides an excellent chance for NHS to sharpen itself on both sides of the ball before looking toward more difficult competition.

Radio: KREF-AM 1400, FM 99.3

Norman North at Mustang

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Bronco Stadium

801 S. Snyder Dr., Mustang

Records & Rankings: Norman North 0-3 (0-0 District 6A-I-2), unranked; Mustang 2-1, No. 9.

Need to know: Norman North has Moore next week, followed by road tussles at Owasso, Putnam City North and Union. T-Wolves coach Justin Jones is preaching how opening night in the district offers a chance to start over. He’s right and, though away from home, perhaps North’s drawn the right opponent. The Broncos last win was a tight 24-21 edging of Edmond Santa Fe.

vs. Southmoore

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Moore Stadium

Records & Rankings: Moore 1-2, (0-0 District 6A-I-2), unranked; Southmoore 0-3 (0-0), unranked

Need to know: The records are not very different, though the Lions are a particularly dangerous one-loss team, having already posted 35, 49 and 28 points in their three games. Southmoore isn’t likely to slow down the Lions much. If Moore can take a defensive step, it will have made good use of the night.

Radio: KOKC-AM 1520 FM 95.3 (Moore); KEBC-AM 1560, FM 103.3 (Southmoore)

Little Axe

at Lexington

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Floyd West Field

801 E. Broadway St., Lexington

Records & Rankings: Little Axe 1-2 (0-0 District 2A-7), unranked; Lexington 1-2 (0-0), unranked

Need to know: Though both teams have won only once, both have reason to to believe they can put together a strong season. Lexington has lost to Class 4A Anadarko and Class A Dibble, yet topped rival Purcell. The Indians have only beaten U.S. Grant, but have put points on the board, scoring 74 in its three games. The winner will be propelled.

at Community Christian

When: 7 p.m.

Place: Royal Field

Records & Rankings: Stratford 1-1 (0-0 District 2A-7), unranked; CCS 1-2 (0-0), unranked

Need to know: Stratford hasn’t finished a game in two weeks, as Friday’s matchup with Wayne became a weather casualty and it split it’s first two contests against Class A’s Konowa and Allen. The Royals’ lone win came over an overmatched OKC Patriots squad (60-6). If either team figures to challenge for the postseason, tonight’s a likely must-win.

Duncan at Noble

When: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Noble Stadium

Records & Rankings: Duncan 2-0 (0-0 District 5A-1), unranked; Noble 2-1 (0-0), unranked

Need to know: Though unbeaten, the Demons did not finish their Week 3 contest against Ada. Noble is looking to rebound after a mistake-filled loss at Piedmont took the shine off a huge win at Ada. If the Bears are the team that beat the Cougars, this is a game they need to win in a super competitive district.
