Norman High’s Addyson Lindsey and Little Axe’s Elizabeth Mullendore were two of the big winners at the Class 6A girls wrestling regionals on Monday.
Lindsey, an NHS junior, remained undefeated this season with victories over Yukon’s Trysten Rittberger and Lexington’s Izzy Pack to claim first in the 185-pound division. Lindsey won both bouts via fall, pinning each of her opponents in less than two minutes.
Meanwhile, Mullendore, a Little Axe junior, had to fight through a crowded bracket in the 147-pound weight class. She pinned all four of her opponents, including Tuttle’s Rayleigh Fisher in the championship bout.
Norman North sophomore Devin Jansing made it the 100-pound division’s first-place match but fell by a 12-4 major decision to Altus’ Beyonce Coronado. Jansing pinned her first-round opponent and won her semifinals match with a 15-2 major decision, however, to get there.
Noble freshman Kurrstin Howell fell just short of first place as well, losing to Choctaw’s Peyton Hand via fall in the 112-pound division title bout. It was only Howell’s second defeat of the season.
The wrestlers will all move on to the girls state wrestling tournament, which the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has scheduled for Feb. 25 at State Fairgrounds Arena in Oklahoma City. Wrestle-in matches will begin at 10:30 a.m., quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m., championship semifinals at 1 p.m. and medal matches at 6:30 p.m.
